Podcasts that Pop

Hi, thanks for coming to this podcasting set up - here’s a few links and resources that you might find useful…

Useful things

Recording

  • A good microphone will give you excellent bang for your buck in audio quality. I use this one: Samson Q2U.

  • Tools such as Zencastr or Riverside are far superior options to Zoom (and especially Teams) as they record high quality audio locally, which means any bandwidth / internet issues don’t effect the audio quality. You can also record video, if needed.

  • Want listeners to get involved and send their own questions/stories/audio to use in your episode? Tools like SpeakPipe make that quick and easy.

Editing

  • Descript will change your life; edit audio by editing the transcript (words) rather than audio waves. Game changer.

Hosting

  • I use Omny, mostly because they’re Australian based and I was recommended them when I started my podcast.

  • Other good options are Libsyn (lots of tier options), Whooshkaa (optimised for private podcast set up), and Anchor (great innovation and Spotify integration).

Websites

  • Most hosting platforms now offer a podcast website, however some of them are pretty grizzly. I am a complete convert to Podpage^, which scrapes your episodes / shownotes and puts them into a nice website format. There’s HEAPS of customisation available too. I use podpage for my podcast website.

^links wearing a little hat indicate affiliate link, where you/me/both of us receive a discount or bonus for recommending. I only share things I use and genuinely think are great.
